The Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) program validates your ability to accurately diagnose and solve common problems encountered by facilities engineers in any facility. This course reviews the candidate’s knowledge base regarding the subject matter assessed by the CPE Exam. Successful completion of this course qualifies and prepares a candidate who does not otherwise meet the educational and professional experience requirements to sit for the CPE Exam. Notwithstanding, a candidate who lacks sufficient professional experience or education will find it difficult to navigate the CPE Review Course.
NOTICE: This CPE Instructor-Guided Online Review Course (CPE IG-ORC) does NOT include the CPE Exam. A separate application and fee must be submitted to sit for the CPE Exam. Please visit our calendar of events to identify a date to sit for the CPE Exam that works for you. Well-qualified candidates may apply to sit for the CPE Exam without taking the CPE Review Course.

Once completed, the CPE Self-Directed Online Review Course (CPE SD-ORC) will allow a candidate to move through the review material at her or his own pace via our learning management system, the AFE SmartTEAM LMS. Candidates will achieve a passing grade for the SD-ORC by successfully completing each of the content units along with the corresponding SCORM assessment following each unit. The content units must be completed in order.
Similarly, the CPE Instructor-Guided Online Review Course (CPE IG-ORC) groups candidates into cohorts who meet regularly with our group of Official AFE Professional Development Instructors for the CPE program. The class meeting schedule for each credentialing review course is determined by the instructors and posted above.
Review course fees must be paid via credit card, if registering online. To pay by PO or invoice, please contact our Credentialing & Professional Development Team at certification@afe.org. The Non-Member ORC registration fee includes an AFE FM Pro (I YR) Membership.
